Tim Upsdell is the Principal Psychologist at Fleurieu Psychology Services.   His academic qualifications include a Masters in Psychology (Clinical) and a Masters in Psychology (Organisational). He has also completed a Certificate in Family Therapy from the Dulwich Centre, and has training in a number of specific techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Hypnosis and Rapid Eye Movement Desensitisation. He worked for 10 years with offending and homeless youth and 13 years in the area of Vocational Rehabilitation for people with disabilities, both physical and psychological before establishing Fleurieu Psychology Services in 2003.

Tim consults at Tavwick House Christies Beach on Tuesday and Thursday, Hallett Cove on Monday, Victor Harbour  and Goolwa once a fortnight on alternative Wednesdays, Aldinga once a fortnight on a Friday, and GPAxis Seaford-Meadows once a fortnight on a Saturday.

Corrie’s specialty is working with children and their families. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the Victoria University of Technology in 1995 and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Child Psychology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 1996. She then undertook a 2-year internship with a psychologist in Adelaide before registering in 1998 and starting her own private practice. Since registering, she has worked for herself as well as organisations including Baptist Community Services, Adelaide Psychology Consultants, Tabor College, the University of South Australia, the Department of Defence, Maxima Joblink, and De Poi Consultancy Services. Her experience has been in counselling (eg. Relationship Issues, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD etc.), Teaching, Recruitment and Selection, Job Network, and Vocational Assessments (for WorkCover and victims of MVA’s). Her experience with children includes Childhood Disability and Disorders, Behaviour Management, Assessment, Depression, Anxiety, Aggression, Adjustment, School Readiness, and Abuse.

Nigel has a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, two Post Graduate Diplomas of Psychology (Psychology and Psychological Studies), a Bachelor of Business and an Advanced Diploma in Salvation Army Ministry. He is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and an Associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. Nigel is a practitioner with experience across a range of psychological areas, including Depression, Anxiety, Anger, Stress, Addictions (Alcohol, Drugs and Gambling), Grief and Loss, Relationship & Marital Difficulties, Adolescents & Young Adult Life Issues, and General Life Choice Issues. He has a specific interest in Male Health and Wellbeing, and is particularly interested in the experience, role, and importance of fathers. Nigel has a vast array of experience within both the private and non-government sectors. This includes working in Mental Health Research and Development, Community Mental Health, Psychological Assessment and Interventions for Employment Services, Domestic Violence, Private Practice as well as Management and Human Resources.

TRISH MCCANN MORTIMER

Trish McCann Mortimer has a Psychology Doctorate from the University of Adelaide that focused on Wellbeing in Midlife and Older People. She also has a Masters Degree in Counselling, two Post Graduate Diplomas (Group Work and Early Childhood Education), and a First Class Honours degree in Psychology. She has training in a number of specific techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the Paula Barrett ‘Friends’ program for children and youth with Anxiety issues. Trish has a background of School Psychology, Teaching, School py community work and training including 11 years in the Northern Territory with many occasions of working with culturally and linguistically diverse adults and children. Her experience includes teaching preschool, high school, TAFE and University level students as well as Vocational Rehabilitation for people with disabilities and numerous delivering “Work Readiness” programs designed for Indigenous and other CALD groups. Her experience and interests include working with children who have special needs (e.g. Asperger’s syndrome), Anxiety, and Adjustment Issues and with adults and older people facing Depression, Grief, Loss and other issues.

BRONWYN BUTLER

Bronwyn received a Bachelor in Arts degree in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy for NT University.  She undertook a 2 year internship with Tim Upsdell at Fleurieu Psychology Services.  She is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She worked for 7 years with St John Ambulance NT providing recruitment, counselling Psychological Assessment and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.  She has been employed with Job Network for 10 years in various capacities including Job Capacity Assessment, the Personal Support Program and providing Psychological Services to clients with multiple and severe barriers such as Despression, Anxiety, PTSD, Anger, Grief, Alcohol and Drug Addictions, Homelessness and Domestic Violence. Bronwyn specialises in adults and adolescents utilising therapies such as CBT, Strengths Based Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Client Centred Therapy and Mindfulness.

ANNA GASIOREK

PSYCHOLOGIST

 

Anna holds a degree of Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Flinders University SA & Uni SA, and has completed a Psychology Board of Australia-regulated two-year Internship of supervised practice in New South Wales.  The first year with the NSW Health Drug & Alcohol Service (Methadone clinic), and second year with the NSW Health Sexual Assault Service, including being on call work Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.  Upon returning to South Australia she worked for the Magistrates Court Diversion Program for twelve months and following that with the South Australian Drug & Alcohol Services (DASSA) for four years prior to commencing work with a private practice.  Anna has a professional passion for drug and alcohol and comorbidity, particularly Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & Complex PTSD.  In January 2017, Anna was part of the Australian introduction of the Matrix program, which is an intensive outpatient treatment program for methamphetamine dependence.  She has a great commitment to social equity and providing services that are accessible to all individuals.

MERCEDAS TAAFFE-COOPER

PSYCHOLOGIST

Masters Clinical Psychology (UTAS); BSc Psychology; BSc Sports and Exercise Science; Diploma Psychotherapy and Counselling (National University of Ireland); Reality Therapy Certification.

Mercedas is a Psychologist with a background in Sports and Exercise. She specialises in Emotional Regulation and Performance Psychology. Mercedas has her own private practise and is the founder/owner of CounterPunch Pty Ltd. CounterPunch is a program she has developed that uses physical exercise as a medium for emotional regulation. She specialises in Life skills, Anger management, Anxiety, Stress management and Well-being. Merc has also worked extensively with athletes at all levels of performance. She has coached and participated herself at an elite level in both Boxing and Martial Arts.

Merc worked extensively as a school counsellor and as a workplace manager in Ireland before coming to Australia in 2006. She completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at the University of Tasmania and worked in the Northern Territory for six years. While working with the NT department of Health she worked as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Psychologist and piloted and ran her CounterPunch Program. Since coming to SA she has worked with Headspace Murray Bridge, has a private practise and runs CounterPunch Facilitator workshops for adults who work with youth including Teachers, Health workers, Coaches and Parents.

LISA CHISHOLM

Master of Psychology (Clinical), Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), Graduate Certificate of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Lisa Chisholm is a Registered Psychologist who is passionate about working with adolescents and adults to improve their wellbeing.  Lisa completed her Honours in Psychology and Master in Psychology (Clinical) at Flinders University.  Lisa has also earnt a Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Adelaide.  Her research background is in the areas of metacognition and risk assessment and management of forensic mental health consumers.

In her clinical practice, Lisa delivers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments for a wide range of emotional and behavioural concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression and suicidality, PTSD, grief, assertiveness, skills deficits and relationship problems.  She has placement experience working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of presenting concerns.

She has a particular interest in working with adolescents, which is aided by her experience working as a Therapeutic Youth Worker in child protection, family reunification, and youth homelessness settings.  Lisa is registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency(AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

CAROLA CARDOSO-KUNCAR

Carola Cardoso is a registered Psychologist with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australia Psychologist Society (APS).  Carola focuses mainly on working with those suffering from chronic diseases to manage chronic pain and associated psychological complications.  She received a degree of Professional Psychologist and a Graduate Diploma in Strategic Communications at Diego Portales University in 2009 (Chile).  Then, she worked three years in the department of communication and strategy at Redpath Chilean constructions, (http://www.redpathmining.com/regions/south-america/) as an Organisational Psychologist.

Carola came to Australia in 2011 to further develop her career.  Her degree of Professional Psychologist has been recognised by the APS and currently, she is undertaking a master’s degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy at Flinders University.  As part of her professional development, she has been training in emotional and social skills in children.  She has working experience in different areas of psychological distress, including anger management, pain management, relationship family difficulties, grief and loss, depression, anxiety and bullying.

Currently, she is part of the project ‘Measuring Social and Emotional Literacy Skills in Early Learners: An Efficacy Study of What’s the Buzz?’, and of the project “Psychology, Cancer and others Chronic Diseases” at Flinders University.

Amanda Kuchel is a Registered Psychologist who is passionate about working with adolescents and adults.  Amanda completed her Honours in Psychology at Flinders University and her Master of Professional Psychology at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  Amanda has also earnt a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning from Charles Darwin University.  Her research background is in the area of social psychology.

In her clinical practice, Amanda delivers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based treatments for a wide range of emotional and behavioural concerns such as anxiety, stress, depression and suicidality, grief and loss, anger, PTSD, Bipolar and challenging behaviours and social skill deficits in children.  She has placement experience working with children, adolescents and adults with a variety of presenting concerns including clients with a disability.

She has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults. Her qualifications are General Psychologist registered with APHRA. She is also a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
