Psychology, counselling and assessments across southern Adelaide and the Fleurieu
You can contact Fleurieu Psychology Services directly to enquire about seeing a psychologist. A GP referral is not required to attend as a private client; however, private consultation fees apply and Medicare rebates are not available without an eligible referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan.
If you would like to access Medicare rebates for psychological therapy, you will generally need to speak with your GP about whether a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral are appropriate for you.
If you prefer to attend privately, you can contact us directly without a referral. Our administration team can explain our current fees and appointment options and help identify a psychologist suited to your needs, taking into consideration the type of support you are seeking, clinician experience and current availability.
We also accept referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, paediatricians and other health professionals. When making a referral, it is helpful to include the referral letter, relevant plan information and copies of any previous reports or assessment results relevant to your care.
Once we receive your enquiry or referral, our administration team will contact you to discuss appointment options and the next steps.
Under the Better Access to Mental Health scheme, clients referred by their GP on a Mental Health Treatment Plan can access up to ten visits per calendar year, with a maximum of six sessions per GP referral.
Once the sessions on your referral are used, you will need a new referral from your GP before your next appointment if you wish to continue. If a new referral is not in place, the session is not covered by Medicare and will be billed at the usual full or concession fee with no rebate.
The full appointment fee is payable at the end of each session.
For eligible Medicare appointments, we can process your rebate immediately through our EFTPOS terminal, provided you have a debit card linked to a savings or cheque account. Medicare rebates cannot be refunded to a credit card.
Alternatively, we can submit your Medicare claim electronically, with the rebate generally deposited into your Medicare-registered bank account within a few business days.
You can also choose to claim the rebate yourself through Medicare via myGov.

You can attend with no referral and pay the standard fee, but no Medicare rebate applies.
Assessment and treatment for work-related injuries and psychological difficulties.
Your GP can send your referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan directly to the practice you will be attending, by fax or email. We also accept referrals from psychiatrists, paediatricians and other health professionals, and it helps if any relevant reports or previous assessment results are included.
